An artist for more than twenty years, Blynda Christian works in a variety of media, but has concentrated on portraits in oil for the last decade. Her portraits hang in many private collections around the country. Clients include such notables as Chicago Bear Superbowl champion Ron Anderson and entertainers Jim Brickman, David Sanborn, Anne Cochran, Tracy Silverman, and Al Yankovic.
Blynda studied art and graphic design at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana and and is a sought-after speaker for art seminars and workshops. An innovative and creative teacher, she fulfilled a dream in 2002 when she opened the Art Institute of McKinney. AIM is now a 501(c)(3) entity that provides instruction and programming for students of all ages. McKinney Woman magazine did a feature article about Blynda’s work at the Art Institute of McKinney in the Nov/Dec 2006 issue.

The creation of a portrait is a collaborative effort between the artist and the client. Portraits may or may not require a sitting, but all do require a photo shoot to provide reference material. Blynda will make a preliminary sketch of the proposed painting for your approval before starting on the final portrait. This is an opportunity to decide on the emphasis of the portrait.
